Labuschagne Omitted from Australia's One-Day International Lineup Versus India
Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from Australia's three-game ODI series versus India, as high-performing Queensland colleague Matt Renshaw getting a surprise call-up.
Performance Issues Lead to Omission
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the one-day international side following scoring just one run in each of his two innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. Labuschagne has a best innings of 47 in his last 10 ODI batting appearances.
Labuschagne has featured in 68 ODIs and scored 1,871 ODI runs at an batting average of 34.64, but will now continue to press his claims a return to the Test side ahead of the Ashes beginning in Perth on November 21.
Renshaw's Return and Team Changes
Labuschagne has shown signs of a resurgence with a score of 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw scored a hundred for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
Renshaw is in line to make his first white-ball appearance in the forthcoming series against India after his last inclusion in an ODI squad in 2022.
He has played 14 Tests with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also seeking a red-ball recall as Australia seek a answer to their top-order woes.

Left-arm quick Mitchell Starc returns for the ODI series against India after taking a break since performing well for Australia in the clean sweep of West Indies in July.
Big Bash star Mitch Owen could make his ODI debut after suffering a concussion in the lead up to Australia’s most recent 50-over series against South Africa.
ODI captain Pat Cummins remains on the sidelines as he aims to recover from a spinal issue in time to lead Australia in the first Ashes Test in November.

Mitch Marsh will skipper both the ODI and T20 teams after hitting a ton in the last match against New Zealand to secure a series clean sweep last week.
“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be some management through the back end of the series as players get ready for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket,” selection chief George Bailey said.
