Helicopter Spirals Wildly into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Shoreline
A chopper hovering above a popular southern California beach unexpectedly started spinning wildly, finally losing altitude and smashing into a line of palm trees as onlookers observed.
Videos uploaded on the internet capture the aircraft starting to spin over Huntington Beach then descending in the direction of the perimeter of the coast, where it gets stuck between palms and a staircase adjacent to the Pacific Coast highway.
Rescue Operation Update
Emergency responders reported five persons were taken to hospital including a pair who were in the helicopter and were “extracted safely from the crash site” following the incident on the weekend.
Three persons on the road were injured. Details on their wounds were not yet released.
The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.
