Diving into an Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop on a Quest to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have discovered plenty of interesting independent titles. However, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game lets you play a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop trying to navigate to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."
Player controls is simple: you only need a jump control. In 150 levels, you'll face boss fights and visit a store to acquire customizations for your fecal avatar.
Plan your jumps with caution, since one error forces restarting the level. Bounce on air pockets to launch your character upward, traverse disappearing surfaces, and activate triggers to reveal hidden paths. Collect UN-KOINS and use them on more difficult levels in which things intensifies.
Graphically, the experience boasts eye-catching level designs and catchy soundtrack. The simple graphics with morphing geometric shapes evokes memories of players of beloved games like Earthbound.
While it's hard to name similar titles where you control a coiled turd, video games frequently included toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can make explosives from character excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as soil enrichment. And of course, such content is present heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Despite its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already received notable accolades, such as winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. This trial version is available now on Steam, with the final release scheduled to arrive on Steam on November 19.
